Letter from the Executive Director

“Today those things that occupy us in the field of education are the interests of humanity at large and of civilization. Before such great forces we can only recognize one country- the entire world.” – Maria Montessori

Welcome to Intercultural Montessori Language School.

The idea of Global Citizenship is not new to the world. However, in recent years it has progressively become the focus of education. Intercultural Montessori Language School has long recognized the need to prepare young students to function effectively as “Citizens of the world” within an increasingly interconnected global community.

Respect for one’s self, for others, and for the environment is the foundation upon which any Montessori community is built. We believe, as did Maria Montessori, that the world’s future depends upon how children receive their education. This belief serves as the cornerstone of Intercultural’s focus: a commitment to impart a love of learning that will last a lifetime, transcend cultural differences, and extend to every corner of the globe.

At Intercultural, our goal is to educate children to become bilingual and bi-literate, allowing them to acquire skills that better equip them for citizenship within a global society. With cultural sensitivity and dual language skills, children become capable of opening up communication between the many diverse groups that make up our world.

Our Montessori environment provides the setting for learning in all curriculum areas. Through the careful guidance of the teachers, the students are given a sense of independence that produces confidence and joy. Intercultural is a community that supports each family in serving the needs of their child, and we are committed to increasing parent awareness of our philosophy and facilitating smooth transitions between home and school.

Please take the opportunity to get to know our unique program as we extend a warm welcome to you and your family.

Thank you for your interest.

Sincerely,

Edina McGivern M.S. Ed
