Parent Interview & Child Observation

After you attend an open house or school tour, please let us know if you would like to proceed through the admissions process. We’ll then schedule your Parent Interview and Child Observation.

The parent interview is an opportunity for parents to meet and get to know Intercultural’s Executive Director Edina McGivern, a life-long educator who helped design our dual-language Montessori approach. The parent interview is the perfect time to converse about a wide range of topics related to your child’s education, and to ask detailed questions about school culture, educational philosophy, and academics. We schedule parent interviews on select weekdays between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

The child observations are scheduled after the child is 2 1/2 years of age. The observation takes place in a classroom with other children and lasts approximately an hour. It gives the observing teacher a chance to assess the child for placement in the program, and it gives the child an opportunity to become familiar with the Montessori classroom environment and to envision life within a dynamic community of mixed age students. Parents wait outside the classroom in our reception area. We schedule child observations weekdays starting at 8:45 AM or at 9:00 AM.

We request that you bring a check made out to Intercultural Montessori for your application fee when you arrive for your Parent Interview.
