Lyra – Middle School
Lyra constellation lies in the northern sky. It represents the lyre, a musical instrument with strings used in antiquity and later times. Vega is the brightest star in the Lyra constellation. It was the first star other than the Sun to be photographed and the first one to have its spectrum recorded.
Mehreen Alvi Middle School Teacher
Ms. Mehreen is originally from Pakistan and lived there till she moved to the US in 2011. She joined Intercultural in 2011. She has more than 19 years of experience in the field of Montessori education. She is certified for Primary, Lower, Upper Elementary and Secondary I & II programs. Her experience includes working as an Academic Program Coordinator, developing curriculum, mentoring and supervising teachers, and conducting Montessori workshops and parent events. She has also taught at all levels. In September 2018, Mehreen started the Intercultural's first Middle School Program. She believes that her passion for education and a desire to make a difference in each student’s life is the real motivation for her Montessori educational journey. "If education is always conceived a mere transmission of knowledge, there is a little to be hoped for the bettering of our future. The child is endowed with powers which can guide towards radiant future. If we really want our world to have better future then education must aim to develop the true hidden potential of the child". - Maria
Jessica Young-Eleazar Middle School Teacher
Ms. Jessica was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. She is ecstatic to be a part of the Middle School at Intercultural. Ms. Jessica received her Bachelor's degree in Middle School Education at Saint Louis University and is currently working on her Masters in Teaching and Learning - Reading Specialist through Roosevelt University. When she is not teaching, she loves to sing and try out new baking recipes! Ms. Jessica holds a teaching license for Middle School (grades 5-8) with endorsements in Mathematics, Language Arts, and Music. She is also certified for Secondary Montessori I & II (ages 12-18) through Houston Montessori Center. Ms. Jessica is excited to continue to share her love of learning with the students. She believes in continuous learning and growing for and with her students and cannot wait to see what the students will teach her!
