How our students become citizens of the world.

Intercultural Montessori Language School offers a unique program that beautifully combines dual-language education with the Montessori approach, aiming to nurture global citizens equipped to thrive in a diverse and multilingual world.

Intercultural’s Dual Language Programming

Our Language Programs

At Intercultural Montessori, language is more than a subject—it’s a bridge to understanding, identity, and global citizenship. Every child is immersed daily in a dual language environment, guided by native or fluent-speaking teachers who provide authentic cultural context alongside language instruction.

We currently offer the following tracks:

Our curriculum is designed to help children develop biliteracy, ensuring they gain not only language skills but also confidence in their ability to communicate across cultures. By joining our community, you are providing your child with the unique opportunity to become a global citizen, equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in an interconnected world.

Learn More About Each Language Track

Each of our language programs provides a unique window into the world. While all follow Montessori principles and our dual-language approach, each track offers distinct cultural elements, traditions, and learning experiences.

Japanese & English

Students in the Japanese track experience a blend of modern and traditional Japanese culture—from seasonal celebrations like Setsubun and Children’s Day to practicing Hiragana, calligraphy, and songs. Language learning is supported through storytelling, games, and meaningful classroom routines to immerse students in Japanese culture and traditions.

Mandarin Chinese & English

Mandarin learners are immersed in the sounds, tones, and characters of one of the world’s most spoken languages. Our curriculum includes calligraphy, Lunar New Year festivities, music, and literature, fostering early literacy and cultural fluency. Students also participate in celebrations like Lunar New Year and Dragon Boat Festivals.

Spanish & English

From pan dulce tastings to Latin American folk tales, the Spanish track brings vibrant traditions to life. Students build vocabulary through music, movement, and storytelling, while also exploring the wide cultural diversity of Spanish-speaking countries while participating in celebrations like Dia de los Muertos and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Arabic & English (Now Offered in Chicago!)

Our newest program introduces children to the beauty of the Arabic language and culture. With a focus on conversational Arabic, Arabic script, and cultural storytelling, students experience everything from traditional music and cuisine, to celebrations like Nowruz and Yawm Ras Al-Sana.
