Our School

We Are Intercultural

More than a name, it’s who we are.

Founded in Oak Park and established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2005, Intercultural Montessori Language School has grown to include two vibrant campuses: Oak Park and Chicago’s West Loop. For more than 20 years, we have been committed to providing children with an exceptional education that blends the Montessori philosophy with the benefits of dual-language learning.

As an accredited member of the American Montessori Society, we uphold nationally recognized standards for authentic Montessori education. Our trained Montessori educators nurture independence, empathy, and curiosity in every child—preparing them for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and purpose.

At Intercultural, language is more than a subject—it is a lived experience. In our language-immersion classrooms, students engage daily in Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, or Arabic, gaining not only fluency but also cultural appreciation and global awareness. We believe that learning another language opens doors to deeper human connection and a broader worldview.

Our mission is rooted in intercultural understanding, inclusivity, and community service. We are proud to serve families across Oak Park, Chicago, and surrounding neighborhoods by providing a welcoming and diverse educational environment. Beyond the classroom, we connect with our community through cultural events, family engagement opportunities, and partnerships that celebrate the richness of our shared experiences.

As a nonprofit school, we rely on the generosity of donors, foundations, and families to help us extend access to more children and continue strengthening our impact. Together, we are building a community where children learn to think critically, act compassionately, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.

Today, Intercultural Montessori Language School continues to thrive as a leader in Montessori and dual-language education in Chicago and Oak Park, inspiring students to honor their individuality while embracing the richness of cultural diversity.
